Frank Shober Obituary

  Frank George Shober, 89, a lifelong resident of Leadville, Colorado passed away on Sunday,
November 20, 2022, in Leadville, Colorado. He was born on August 5, 1933, in Leadville to Frank
Shober, Sr. and Anna (Malesich) Shober.
Frank attended school in Leadville and left high school, after taking machine shop courses, to
become a tradesman machinist. He took numerous correspondence courses in the machine
shop and diesel mechanics trade to further his craft. He served as a tank mechanic in the 7 th
Army in Germany where he enjoyed the Alps in his free time. Frank worked as a machinist for
the Asarco Smelter and local mines, including the Climax Molybdenum mine, and was a business
owner for over 30 years. He was an avid Colorado hunter, angler, and outdoorsman. Frank
shared his outdoor passion with his family and friends. He was an enthusiastic gardener and
would share his garden produce and wild game with friends and family. Frank enjoyed sharing
stories about growing up in Leadville and his outdoor experiences. He was a member of the
SNPJ and KSKJ lodges, very proud of his Slovenian heritage, language, and took pride in the
Slovenian traditions.
Frank is survived by his nephews Rudolph J. “John” Shober, Jr. and his wife Belle of Greeley,
Colorado, Edward C. Shober of Leadville, niece Cathy Levar, great niece Cecily, and numerous
cousins. Frank is proceeded in death by his parents, sister Ann Levar and brother Rudy Shober
Frank asked to not have a service, but instead, to be remembered in the mountains of Leadville.
