Long-time Colorado resident, Mark Mariner William Rood, age 57 passed away in his beloved town of Avon, Colorado June 1, 2023. Born in Leadville, Colorado July 3, 1965, to Thomas Mariner Rood and Billie June (Schuck) Rood.
Mark was preceded in death by his sister, Melodie Geffen in 2012 and his father, Thomas Rood in 2021. We can all find solace in knowing he’s been reunited with his father and sister, what a joyous reunion it must have been for them all.
He will always be remembered with much love by his heartbroken mother, Billie June Schwab of El Paso; three daughters and four cherished grandchildren, Meghan Amaya (Alex) and their two sons Orion and Ender of Dallas, TX, Ashlee Bennett (Evan) and their two children Parker and Silas of Dallas, TX, and Skylar Avery Rood of Castle Rock, CO, a sister Heidi Rood of Arvada, CO, and nephew Reginald Middleton (Emily) and son Taylor of Nashville, TN, an uncle Jere Rood of Aspen, CO, a stepdaughter Hailey Wold, and stepsister Susannah Collins. He was also greatly loved and will be missed by the many friends he’s made throughout his life.
Mark was an avid lover of the outdoors and spent much of his time in the mountains enjoying the serene beauty they encompassed. He was an avid skier, rock climber, and fisherman and loved to travel and camp whether in his tent or van. His love for the outdoors brought out the happy, free spirit, and adventurous nature that defined him.
Mark also had a love for music and could often be found strumming his collection of guitars either at home or wherever he went.
A celebration of life is planned in the mountains at Julia’s Deck, Mount of the Holy Cross Overlook Observation site near Red Cliff, CO on September 23, 2023, from 12p-3p. Instead of flowers, the family asks donations be made in his name to Protect Our Winters
